LOOSE LEAVES, The First JMB Album!
In June of 2025, after only 2 shows with their new lineup (Jim, Brian, Paul, Mike, Sean and Joseph), The JMB decided to head to Little Big North in Catskill, NY to record their first album, Loose Leaves, featuring 10 original tracks and a cover of Alicia Keys’, No One, and Neil Young’s, Powderfinger. Along with the 9 studio tracks, there are 3 live tracks recorded at the legendary Bitter End in NYC.
JMB BIO
The Jim Malone Band started humbly with weekly jam sessions at Jim’s home in Brooklyn, NY. First, it was Brian Shuman on keys and Jim on acoustic and vocals. Recognizing the promise of this early collaboration, Jim called up old friend/multi-instrumentalist, Paul Mckenzie, who added guitar, mandolin and backing vocals. A few sessions into that, Paul brought along Mike Furey and his cajon to give it all a back beat. Soon, they were joined by former Standpipe violinist, Rebecca Weiner and Boston Symphony Chorus alum, Sean Mooney on backing vocals.
With every addition, the sound improved, and they started playing some shows—Young Ethel’s in Brooklyn, LIC bar in Long Island City, but after they played at the Bitter End in November of 2024, it was clear the sound was close, but something was lacking. They hunkered down over the winter months, Mike switched from cajon to full drum kit, and they started auditioning bassists. When they found Joseph Anastasi, they knew the sound was there. Their next show, with the new lineup, again at The Bitter End, was a triumph. But wait! There’s more! In November of 2025, Caren Messing filled in for Sean on backing vocals while he was enjoying the spoils of the Rome Prize. When he returned, the two joined forces as an amazing feature of the JMB, two, amazing, dedicated, backing vocalists.
